What we treat

By providing patients with rapid access to an HCA UK urgent care doctor, we are able to treat a wide range of minor illness and injuries, including:

  • Bladder and kidney problems
  • Broken bones
  • Chest infections and respiratory problems
  • Flu symptoms
  • Minor burns, wounds and injuries
  • Persistent headaches
  • Sports injuries
  • Stomach problems
  • Urinary infections
  • Women’s health conditions

What we do NOT treat

  • Heart attacks and strokes are life threatening emergencies. If you are experiencing symptoms of either, such as slurred speech, chest pain or weakness in your arms, please call 999 immediately.
  • Mental health problem or acute confusion.
  • Severe trauma (such as loss of limb).
  • A pregnancy related problem over 20 weeks, or severe pain and bleeding at any point in your pregnancy.
  • Overdoses or exposure to a toxic, biological or chemical substance, or radiation.
  • Acute or severe stomach pain 
  • Severe pain

This list is not exhaustive, and, in some instances, we may need to assess you before having to redirect you to the appropriate healthcare service.

Services we offer:

  • Blood tests (results within half an hour)
  • Laboratory services
  • Ultrasound
  • Bladder scans
  • Imaging, including X-ray and CT (reports within an hour) 

Although we treat most patients in their first visit*, our urgent care team can provide quick onwards referral to private consultants within our network if patients need further care.

How to access our Urgent Care Centre

We are open for walk in patients at our adult Urgent Care Centres, however our paediatric Urgent Care Centre at The Portland Hospital requires booking an appointment.
